Blaerg sent in this bangin’ remix of Christina Aguilera’s Ain’t No Other Man. As is often the case here, this track is really a remix rather than a combination-of-tracks mashup. Blaerg does however mash-up Amen and Think breaks, and stirs them in with a chopped-up version the DJ Premier produced Aguilera pop number.
The very first Mashup of the Week that I posted on this blog was a mix of 50-Cent’s I Get Money with Lexie Lee’s Woman Run It Vocal. It was a weird one. I had to pitch up Lexie’s vocals to get them to work harmonically with the beat. You can hear it tactfully mixed in to DJ Kowalski’s Tetrachave mix, and you can also still download it, and the a-capella if you feel like doing your own mix.
More recently, while working on my mix for Samurai.FM, I produced another mashup using Woman Run It, this time on the Fugee-La beat, and I’m much happier with it. Not only is Fugee-La one of my all-time favorite beats, but I didn’t have to tweak Lexie’s vocals all to hell, and you can hear her wicked lyrics much more clearly:
This week I’d like to point your attention to not just one, but twenty-one holiday themed mashups. DJ BC’s Santastic compilation is back for the 3rd year in a row, this time in 3-D. There are tracks by Go Home Productions, DJ Flack, dj BC, yours truly, and many more.
You can download all the tracks at the Santastic III in 3-D site, and as an added bonus there’s an “About the Project” page which functions as the virtual liner-notes, with blurbs by the artists about their tracks.

We toast you and yours, wishing you a Happy Hannukah, a Cool Yule and/or a Kickin’ Kwanzaa, whichever your prefer. And may 2008 totally rule, for all of us!
Hopefully you’ve had a chance to check out Refusenik’s Kold Krussian DJ mix that we posted a couple weeks back. If so, you may have noticed that there are some original Refusinik rubs in the mix. One of our faves is this mashup of the Argentine cumbia band Los Palmeras‘ song Bombon Asesino with Missy Elliott’s Get Your Freak On.
Hello boys and girls. It’s time for another installment of what we here at Mashit like to call Mashup of the Week.
Two weeks ago we posted a crunk-step version of Crank Dat. Continuing on with that theme, this week’s installment comes from Crawfordsville, Indiana’s Sidney Looper who sent over this speed-bassline version:
We’re proud to present a brand new six track 12″ featuring club blends and refixes from The Heatwave, plus contributions from Sinden (Kiss FM), Ghislain Poirier (Ninja Tune) and DJ C (Mashit). This is the first in a series of club-oriented remix records from The Heatwave and our DJ/producer friends in the UK and across the pond.
Eve’s smash hit Tambourine is given the distinctive Heatwave posse cut treatment, with vocals from The Heatwave’s Rubi Dan and Beenie Man, Collie Buddz and Lexxus. Two more Heatwave refixes feature Busy Signal and Mavado’s Badman Place blended with Justin Timberlake’s My Love and up-and-coming London soul singer Valentina over the classic Night Nurse aka Doctor’s Darling reggae riddim.
DJ Donna Summer strikes again with this “fun” party mashup of All I Wanna Do by Sheryl Crow. Well, it’s actually a club-style remix, rather than a mashup in the strict sense of the word. Perhaps we should change the name of this series, but rather than dwell on that, we present:
Starkey recently dropped an exclusive DJ mix for XLR8R Magazine’s podcast series. It’s chock full o’ new and exciting sonic-flavor-crystals, and includes my remix of Ghislain Poirier’s Blazin‘. The Stark-bot then went on to create his own remix of Blazin‘ which I’ll share with you now:
I started out last week’s journey to my old stomping grounds, partying with my peeps at the Beat Research halloween party where Flack, Wayne, and DJ RNDM threw down hard. RNDM did a VJ set using the Ms. Pinky vinyl DJ system to do live music-video mashups. If you’re having any trouble visualizing what I mean, you’re in luck. Robotkid was in the house documenting the festivities (Flickr pics), and now RNDM’s entire set is immortalized:
RNDM and Robotkid also happen to work at Harmonix, the company that designed the popular Guitar Hero video game, and is about to unleash its latest creation, Rock Band. Robotkid was kind enough to invite me over to Harmonix headquarters so I could get a sneak-preview of the game before it’s released on Txgving day. And man, was it fun! I’m really not much of a gamer, and have never played Guitar Hero but I’ve heard a lot of hype so I was excited to see what this is all about.
