DJ C “I Didn't Mix Pack”
“I Didn't,” the first single from DJ C's “Do Radly” album, is also the instrumental version of a never-released track featuring James Franco, Smokey Robinson, & TFO.
On may 28 DJ C's “Do Radly” album drops into the online listening outlets.
The album bounces between frenetic sonic experimentation and serene comfort music. “I Didn't” falls right in the middle of that sweet tension where DJ C derives inspiration for the extreme genre blends behind his experimental party music.
The Backstory
After meeting in grad school at the Rode Island School of Deign, James Franco and Tim O‘Keefe (TFO) formed the band Daddy and recorded a series of tracks.
One such track was the result of Franco's chance encounter with Smokey Robinson on a flight between Detroit and LA, when the two realized a mutual admiration. O'Keefe brought them into the studio and recorded the tune “Crime” which they asked DJ C to remix. He obliged but his version was never released.
DJ C floated the instrumental to Chicago rapper Fluffy who laid down the the “Bestfriend” remix which was leaked by Fake Shore Drive, but still never saw a proper release.
The instrumental (“I Didn't”) has now seen first official release as a single for DJ C's upcoming “Do Radly” album. This mix pack gathers all versions together for the first time as an exclusive, free download for fans.
